Bluegrass

Located just right at the opposite of Otel Lobby, Bluegrass succeed to attract my attention. Moreover, one of my friend highly recommend this place.  So I came by and tried some of their menus. Hope I wouldn't disappointed.

Texas Beef Ribs (150K). It came in a big size, way from my expectation, and it looked good. So first impression was 10. Lets see if this dish could kicked my buds. They have 3 variants of sauce: original, BBQ, and gentlemen jack rare tennessee whiskey. I chose gentlemen jack, and I didn't have any regret. It tasted so good. The meat (beef) was so tender and juicy. Chewing it even seemed effortless. The spices really well-absorbed. It came with mashed potato which also tasted good and went very well with the tasty meat. For the matter of size, this dish could be shared for 2-4 persons.

Asparagus Bacon Puff Pastry (60K). As I ever said, I love puff pastry. Interested with this one, so I dared myself to try. And I loved it! Savory puff pastry and salty bacon, plus half done egg yolks combined with crunchy asparagus could bring heaven to me.

Granny's Apple Pie (55K). Yup, it's double crust pie with apple and spices filling. The crust was (of course) crispy and the filling has soft texture and strong cinnamon taste. Came with a bowl of vanilla ice cream which went well with the pie. This wasn't my favorite, but I was quiet satisfied with it.

Otel Lobby

Jakarta has a lot of new restaurants lately. It's even impossible for me to try them all in a month. That's why I am so excited to try new restaurant, because it means one more material to publish in this blog. lol. Anyway, this time I went Otel Lobby. Yup, the most hip new comer in Jakarta. Many people talking about it. Never hear any disappointment about it, I thought I should make a visit as soon as I could.

Located in one of biggest business area in Jakarta, Otel Lobby easily climbing their name up into the list of 'must-try' restaurants. The signage reminds me about classic hotel which usually found in classic movie. When you enter the door, you'll find a hotel lobby. Literally, hotel lobby. Yes, I lied, it's not a hotel lobby, it's only hotel lobby-look-alike, complete with all hotel lobby decoration. There's a front desk where you can ask for tables. If you feel like going to the bar, it will be right on your left. if you feel like having dinner or lunch, your table will be in right area. The dim light, actually it was almost dark, made me harder to take much pictures even tough I went there in the afternoon.

Beef Wellington - 135K IDR. The size was not too big, approximately as big as my fist. But the taste spoke louder than its size. I got nothing to complain. The pastry outside was crispy, the beef was tender, juicy, and perfectly half-done. The sauce was light enough to balance the high tensed wellington.

OTL Meatballs - 55K IDR.  Of course you shouldn't hoping for Chinese or Indonesian meatballs. Otel Lobby claims itself as a fusion restaurant and here's one of their creation. Italian meatball with emping (melinjo cracker). Well, it seemed awkward to me at first, but apparently they went well together. The meatballs made from minced beef that seasoned and be rounded. The beef was not dry. Actually they cooked it just like bolognaise. The difference was the shape of the meat. They put grated cheese on top, which a bit melted and fused with the sauce. The sauce tastes salty. Even for a salty lover like me, it tasted salty. But fortunately, it went really well with the emping.

Lemon & Pear Souffle - 35K IDR. I am a souffle adorer. So I decided to order one.  This time, I chose lemon & pear souffle, as this was my first time saw this kind of souffle on the menu. Unfortunately it was too runny. Away from my expectation and imagination that souffle is thick and rich. Anyway, i couldn't find any hint of lemon, maybe it was not a main ingredients, but why they put it as the name. There's the sauce which I found hints of vanilla and ginger. Yup, ginger to be combined with souffle. Yes, this was my first time seeing this too. Well, it was not that bad. It was pretty nice anyway. But I just prefer chocolate souffle, a safe choice, which they do not have.

The Strudels Factory

This time I was in Bandung. Felt so good after long time no visit. :D
Bandung has many many many concept restaurants. It was even hard for me to choose which one to visit first, since I only have one day there. Looking around Riau area, I saw The Strudels Factory. Ah, I used to want it so bad few months ago, and since it was justs in front of my eyes, I didn't hesitate to come in.

Blueberry Strudels. What else you should order at The Strudels Factory? Of course I ordered their strudels. And apparently it was good. There's sugar on top. The strudels was crispy but soft enough to enjoy. The size wasn't too big, but that's not a big deal. It cost me about 18-20K IDR. I forgot the exact number. The blueberry sauce was a bit sour and the white sauce (I forgot what's that, maybe it was yogurt) was sweet. Sweet and sour in strudels? Perfect.

Black and White Hot Cake. Yes, it is chocolate melted cake. I didn't know what took it so long, they spent almost 1 hour to bake it. I even asked to cancel because I still had other places to go, but they insisted that they were baking the cake so I couldn't cancel the order. Okay, in the middle of disappointment, I just sat and took pictures of my friends. After about 50 minutes, finally 'the king' arrived. I took some photos of it quickly then  grabbed a spoon, ready to prey it. :p  Well, the chocolate in the middle was melted, but not as good as I desired. It was a too thick and not generous. The outside part also not special, the cake was puffy but just okay. Nothing special here. The vanilla ice cream, I assume, was not a home made. But it went pretty well with the cake.

Kopitiam

Lately, name "kopitiam" has something. You could find it everywhere. This is the first kopitiam I saw in malls; Kopitiam.

Fried

Fried Carrot Cake (36K). When it's warm, there's a little crispiness in the carrot cake's skin. Unfortunately, it went away after it became cold. The taste was nice, sweet and savory. Just like another fried carrot cake, like what I expected.

French Toast Kaya (28K). Actually I was hoping for toasted bread with kaya jam in the middle. But apparently they had some surprise. The bread was dipped into egg and been fried pan, it tasted not bad at all. the bread was puffy, and no egg smell. The kaya jam was a big surprise to me. Looks like thousand island mayo, but it tasted lighter and not thick. So bad I couldn't find any hint of kaya. :(
Another surprise is, it came with french fries! Yes, french fries. To be honest, when I ordered french kaya toast, I was hoping for something to tickle my buds and sweet tooth. No wonder I got french fries. Well, not that I didn't like french fries, it was just......unsual. :)

Ice Cappucino (27.5K).  A glass of coffee is good to start the day. As it was a hot day, so I prefer iced coffee. Turned out it was good, and the coffee was not too strong, so I have no problem with my stomach. :)

Earl grey Tea (16K). Tea is coffee's direct competitor. I chose earl grey tea. They had Dilmah's. :)

The Playground

What do you think when you hear "playground" ? Kid, child, play, fun, etc.
Remembering when I was a kid, I loved to eat while sitting on a swing. Yes, it could happen again now, at The Playground. The Playground presents the concept of playground ambiance, with grassy floor, swing seat, bench, and other playground's material. Cool, isn't it?

Pepperoni Pizza. I was excited when I knew it was square pizza. Well, it's just a matter of shape, but tried something unique is always exciting, right? ;p
The pizza was crispy on the edge side. The tomato sauce was a bit sour, but balance enough with the cheese. Just for tips, you'd better eat this while still warm. :)

Katsutti (65K) - is a fusion pasta. Spaghetti with cream sauce and chicken katsu, covered up with egg. As good as it looked, it tasted superb. Me very loved it. The portion wasn't big, but I found myself full enough because it's creamy and sweet. Anyway, I want it again now. *drooling*

Aglio Olio (45K). I'm not expecting much about this dish. I thought, as I was in major hunger, it would be better if I ordered safe menu. And turned out it was good! Well, a bit oily, but it tasted nice. The spaghetty was al dente, not too spicy, smelled very tempting, and really well-seasoned.

Ice tea, lemon squash, and strawberry ice tea. (@20K)

Zabaglione (35K). The waiter said, there's Bailey hint in it. But I tasted was milk and rum. Yeah, I was disappointed.

Peanut butter and jelly. Actually, I was just curious, how this thing could be very famous among western people, so I ordered one. Apparently it was toasted breads with peanut and strawberry jelly in the middle. I couldn't taste the peanut jam. I forgot how much it cost, but I'm sure, it wasn't worth it. I prefer toasted bread sold in hawker stall; cheaper and yummier.

Mr. Curry PIM 2

Call me reckless blogger, cause I am. Lol. Apparently I've just realised that I haven't posted this post.
Mr.Curry has opened their new branch at PIM 2 last December 2011. Located near Pasta de Waraku.
Not just new place, they also offer new menu.

The ambience was exactly the same with Mr. Curry GI. Yeah, that's their signature.

Salmon Carpaccio. It looked very fresh. I could smell a hint of sesame oil in it. I love clear salad. The lettuce was crunchy, proved that it was fresh. The salmon also not fishy. Nice!

Korokoro Tofu. I looooooved this. It was simply just deep fried silk tofu. But it was soft and nice. They spread some seasoning to give it some tastes.

j

Assorted Mushroom Omurice. It was so creamy and buttery. Actually it was delicious, but I got myself nausea when ate it too much. :(

Chicken Katsu Curry Rice. Actually it was pretty good. The chicken was moist and tender. You can choose the curry, they had some variants.

Here are the best part of the dishes which made my day delightful. A Dash of Fruit Splash (top) and Matcha Karamba (bottom). I loved the matcha! Yeah, I'm not a big fan of greentea, but this one was different. The ice cream was light and not too sweet. Then dorayaki was soft and cute (see the heart shape). The  honey toast was me-love-it-completely.

The Baked Goods

Sabang Street is famous of its foods. The Baked Goods had just joined to tone up the 'food-living' there. I was so excited. Many people talked about The Baked Goods, none of them said a bad thing.
I really wanted to pamper my sweet tooth. So here I was. Brought all the curious I had. *big grin*

Bublanina. This one was my fave. It's a Czech cake. To be honest, I never found this before.
It was just like a sponge cake with crumble on top and strawberries in the middle. The strawberries were easy-mixed with the dough, so the texture was different and unique in a good way. Tasted sweet and a bit sour when it came to the strawberries.

Dark Choco Walnut Pie. The pie was not too chrunchy. Me prefer the crunchy one. :(
The chocolate wasn't too sweet, i liked it.

Lemon popseeds. Me love love love the lemon glazed on the top. It looked like icing sugar but tasted lemon-ish.  The sponge cake was not sweet. The sweetness came from the glaze. Anyway, this one was one of my favorites. :)
Cost me not much; 19K. But I admitted the size was tinier that usual. Well, that's a good thing for me, so I could try more variants of cake thet have. hihi

CocoChoco.  I fell in love when first saw it. But unfortunately, I lost it when I tried it. :(
For me, it tasted like old cake that had been kept in fridge for days. So dry and not tasty to me. Grated dry coconut on top, just gave another dry sensation.

Dark Choco Rum Cake. I'm not a big fan of rum. And for me, this cake is more like rum cake rather than choco cake. It had very strong hint of rum.

Spinach, Smooked Beef and Mushroom Quiche. To be honest, this is my first quiche. lol
And seemed like I'm not a fan of it. hehe
In my opinion, quiche is like savory pie. Instead of jam or fruits or chocolate, it has spinach, smooked beef, mushroom, and other savory things.

They also sell cookies, and there were jars of tasters! Anyway, the cookies tasted nice. Me love all their cookies. :))

The place was pretty small and neat, located at a hoek position, beside Kopitiam Oey.
The ambience was simple and sweet. So cakeries. :)

Bandar Djakarta

Heyho everyone!
It's time for seafood. I know, i rarely post about seafood, i don't eat seafood much, but it doesn't mean i don't like it. :))
I was at Flavor Bliss (Alam Sutra) and I saw Bandar Djakarta there. Yeah, Bandar Djakarta opened their branch at Alam Sutra, so we don't have to go to Ancol every time we're craving for Badar Djakarta. Nice!

The uniqueness of eating at seafood restaurant is you could see the 'sea-creatures' and choose which one and how much you want it. Then you may order how do you want it to be cooked.

Kangkung Cah Tauco - 12K IDR. I loved it. It was well-seasoned and balance. Not too spicy, and not too salty.

Udang Pancet Besar - 11.5K IDR/gr. I chose it to be cooked with honey sauce. Well, no honey-smell, but it tasted sweet and savory. They grilled the shrimp and mixed it with honey sauce. Seems like they put oil too, so the shrimps were shiny. Me loved it.

Cumi Goreng Tepung (Deep Fried Squid) - 6.5K/gr. I loved it too. Very chrunchy and tasted savory. Moreover when I dipped it into sambal, whoaaaah, I'm drooling now. ;p

Sayur Asem - 3K. Came in a small bowl, it was a soup with a lot of herbs and veggie. Tasted a bit sweet, sour, and spicy. The sourness different with lemon, because it used asem jawa. Me gusta!

Ikan Ilak (Ilak Fish) - 13.7K/gr. I chose to cooked it with cabe ijo (green chilli). So they grilled it, then pour minched cabe ijo throughout the fish. For me, it's not highly recommended, but still edible, of course. I prefer sweet and sour sauce or another common sauce. But not this one.

We got free lalapan (a basket of raw vegetables) and sambal (Indonesian style chilli).

Coconut - 15K. In a hot hot day, it was very very helpful to me. Lol

Overall, I loved the food. The ambience was Sundanese, where we can lesehan (sitting on the floor with low table). Me starve for more. :D

Collage - Pullman Jakarta

Hi people!
This time, my owner were invited to a buffet dining at Collage, Pullman Hotel Jakarta. Pullman Hotel had just opened their first hotel ini Jakarta (they have one in Bali). Located at Central Park, this hotel has direct access to Central Park Mall.
So bad my owners came late because one of them was in a big matter. Please don't ask what's that. Oh no. Stop asking. I said don't ask! ;)
Anyway, as my owners are in major addiction of Instagram , so today's photos are provided via instragram. I mean, edited with instagram. :) ---> Hey, please feel free to follow them : @rozelina & @ANTZL33

Back to Collage. Collage is an all-day dining at Pullman. Ssssttt. They also had a bar named Bunk.
Collage provides many kind of foods, they had some blocks of stall. One block for Indian, one block for Chinese, Japanese, Indonesian, etc. All the menu change everyday but still sticks to theme of each block. Each blocks had some chefs cooking, and we could watch them making food.
The foods was average. I mean, what do you expect from an international buffet? The main point of being international food buffet is provide food as much as you can. Not to make something that would become their signature. Well, even it would be better if they had one. But who cares? As long as the food wasn't bad, they're good.

The place was so comfy, and they also had outdoor seat too. The interior design still sticks with the whole building design, which very similar to art gallery. So bold and different with another five stars hotels. And FYI, I love love love the concept and design of the whole interior. (as much as i saw)

Overall, I enjoyed the dishes. They were good. I saw sushi, sashimi, curry, dimsum, pasta, etc. The also provide cocktails and mocktails if you ask. I heard the price is about 190,000++ IDR/person during weekdays, and 228.000 IDR++/person for weekend. (exclude beverage)
If you asked about it is worth the price or not, maybe it will come back to you. How much can you eat?  ;)

You have to see their desserts stall! So drooling.

By the way, most of the photos below are desserts. Yeah, I love dessert. But it doesn't mean I didn't eat the maincourse. It's just I haven't upload the other photos, because they're still in another camera. I will upload them soon. Promise. ;)

Colorful Macaroons. They had different flavor for each color. Yum!

Croissant Pudding. Yeah, it's not bread pudding. It's Croissant Pudding. Extremely yummy!!! And i'm craving for this now. Somebody please bring me one!

Foie Gras Cream Brulee. - Well, I'm not a fan of foie gras. Don't ask me. ;p

Cold misoba. slurp!

Mad For Garlic

This is a quick post. Lets make this quick. Quick quick quick!

Mad for Garlic. I had been eager to come here. Then I tried once. So bad I lost the bill. Pardon me if there will be some incorrect or mistaken. :)
I was not a big fan of garlic. But I was curious about what a garlic could be. Let's see.

Snowy Flakes. The tasted? Nice. The pizza was thin and crunchy at the edge. The topping was garlic flakes, cheese, prawn and mayo. Don't judge the pale look. It tasted so moist and a bit sweet. I loved the mayo.
Anyway, as I remembered, this pizza cost me more than 1 hundred thousands rupiahs. But I saw their prawns (on this pizza) uncleaned. I mean, for this kind of restaurant (Mad for Garlic still in one group with Tony Roma's), with the big cost, I really hope for something outstanding. Not prawns with its feces. Yeah, i was disappointed. :(

I forgot the name, but there's 'tower' in the name. ;p
First it came, it looked like a bread tower, then the waitress flattened it down and cut it into 4 pieces. The bread was nice, crunchy outside, and they were very generous for the minced garlic filling. Tasted savory, a bit salty, and of course sooooo garlic-ish.
