Pancious - Perfectly Homemade

I remember when Pancious opened their first outlet in Permata Hijau area was a big hip. Now they already have more 10 outlets in Jakarta, Bandung and Surabaya. I love the ambiance of Pancious' outlets. The decoration dominated with white and red, with sofas everywhere made the customers comfy. The place is perfect for all occasion from hang out with friends, dating, family gathering, or even a business meeting, maybe that's why Pancious is always crowded.

Blueberry Cheese Pancake (Rp. 43.500 for single and Rp. 62.500 for double). To be honest, I'm not a fan of vanilla ice cream. But this one was an exception. The homemade ice cream was milky yet light enough as a vanilla ice cream. The pancake wasn't too sweet. The blueberry cheese sauce was so good. Sweet and sour, mixed with milky vanilla ice cream to flavor up the pancake.

Blackpepper Meatball Pasta (Rp.65.000) was the highlight of that day. Served with creamy sauce, but tasted light enough that I could finish it all in less than 15 minutes. Homemade meatball was made from minced beef. A little too dry, but went well with the creamy sauce. Extra sausage was also a homemade and made the dish taste even better. A perfect shot of blackpepper made everyone can eat it.

My heart fallen for Fresh Fruit Ice Tea Cocktail (Rp. 52.000). Made from fresh mango juice and tea, with diamond cut strawberry, mango, apple, and kiwi. I think the drink was good as dessert too. Came in a huge glass bottle, the portion was enough for 2-4 persons.

If you notice, almost all the menu in Pancious are homemade and no preservatives or any other chemical thing. Glad to know it, and don't you wish to find other food taste like theirs. Other good thing is, they serve breakfast menu all day. :)

Mountain of Food Explorace Part 2: The World Club Lounge, Coffee Terrace, Chin Swee Vegetarian Restaurant

Heyho, everyone! I'm back with my Genting trip story. This time is my second day, and I was so exhausted and fun at once. Where should I start? Hmmm.. Breakfast seems a good start. We had our breakfast at The World Club Lounge. The place wasn't spacious but neat and comfort. Plus, we could enjoy the beautiful view while breakfast.

Our first challenge of the day was making a package of food with "energizing" theme. And we had to eat all the food afterwards. Since this challenge given after we had breakfast and we still had many challenge after this, so we had to be so smart in arranging our dish. Voila! This is what we got. I'm pretty proud of our creation. :')

We still had some challenges afterwards where we had to go some tenants of the huge mall they had there, and we got free jackets! hihihi. *huge smile*

Just about half past elven (11.30am), we were ready for lunch at Coffee Terrace. Yup, it's their famous buffet dining whose had 6 live kitchen! What did I seek for the first? Of course sweets and desserts! :))

Look what I found!!
Yeah, you're not wrong, and your eyes are find. It's ostrich! I never ate ostrich meat before. So I dared myself to try once. Actually the texture was similar with mutton. I believed it had the same smell like mutton had, but fortunately the spices was sooooo strong that I almost couldn't smell.

Let's take picture with our new jackets! :p

After lunch, we got some more challenges. This time, we got free entrance to theme park! Wohoo!
I was very excited. This challenge was the one I loved the most.

4pm sharp, we went to Chin Swee Temple. It's a temple located near Resort World Genting. It was such a beautiful temple. The challenge here was we had to find Oprah (the officer), and we had to seek her in the entire temple. The temple had a pagoda, whose 9 level height. The clue was "Oprah is in the highest point of the temple". So when we arrived, we just strike to the highest level. I made it to 8th floor, until a friend told me that Oprah wasn't there (he already reached the 9th floor). What a waste of energy! lol.
Here's my pict, in order to prove, I had ever reahed 8th floor using stairs in my life! :p
Wait! Every level had a door to outside where we could see a very green and beautiful view. Ah, of course I didn't want to miss it. I enjoyed the view for about 5 minutes before going back to the first floor.

We found Oprah in the prayer room. Not long after that, it's time for dinner! Yes, we ate that much. :))
There's a vegetarian restaurant here. Chin Swee Vegetarian Restaurant.

Soup of The Day

Sauted Mushroom with Broccoli

Pomfret with Thai Sauce

Salted Fish and Pork in Claypot

Loh Hon Chai in Yam King

Lamb Curry

Stir Fry Vegetables

My favorite was Loh Hon Chai in Yam King. In ordinary restaurant, we might say it was deep fried prawn with sauce, that placed in a bowl-shaped yam cake. I saw this kind of dish for some times in Medan-ese (Tio Ciu) restaurant. But the difference is, this time was a vegetarian version, so no prawn, no meat, and no garlic.

Warung Ngebul

Bandung famous of its eatery world getting bigger and bigger each day. Every time my owner goes there, she do a lot of preparation such eating schedule, which take most of my time, and visiting route.
Vabyo, a well-known writer and seleb, has a small eatery house in Dago. Warung Ngebul it is. Interested with the fun concept that offers many light bites at reasonable price, my owner and friends decided to give it a try.

Located in the heart of Bandung city, a small place with dim light and simple decoration. They had some old games such congklak, snake & ladder, etc.
Vabyo was very friendly. My friend even got his book signed and we took a photo together. :)

Nori Krispi Kulit Tahu Bakar - 15K. Do you have any idea what is it? Well, actually it was grilled seaweed covered with tofu skin, with aci (sago powder mixed with water). Yup, unique. I never tasted this kind of dish before. It tasted savory and plain. Savory came from seaweed, and that's it. I didn't love it much, but it's fun to try it.

Fusilli Carbonara - 18K. It came in a medium plate. The portion wasn't big, but considering this as a light bites, it was very okay. Surprisingly, it tasted so yummy! I loved it. Looked very simple. It wasn't milky, very light, savory and salty enough. In shorter way, I could call it yummy. There were pieces of sausages, and grated cheese on top.

Mie Goreng Ngebul Spesial -15K. Another surprising dish. Basically this was instant noodle that cooked in certain way. They put sausages, vegetables, meatballs, and cheese on top. Easy cooking, but delightful to me. Well, this wasn't a fancy dishes but it was loveable.

Roti Keju + Daging Asap (10K IDR)- Cheese bread and smoked beef. It was deep fried smoked beef rolled in bread loaf with cheese inside. Of course I loved it. Tasted savory and a bit salty with a hint of sweet from the bread. <3

Overall, I loved the place, even it's too narrow or somewhat, but affordable good food, easy bites (you dont have to think when you eat) and warm chit chat, Who will say no? :D

Ribenkoff

Central Park has been developed. A lot.
Listed as one of new hangout place in Jakarta, many new restaurants opened their outlet here. This one is Ribenkoff. I ate this few months ago. The last time I saw, it changed its name. I forgot the name though. ;p
The place was pretty vacant when I came in. They had outdoor seats too. For me, nothing special with the decoration. I mean, it was good, but  a lot of restaurants have good decoration. So nothing became unique anymore.

Chicken Steak. Seriously, this dish was horrible. It came in not-big portion, and  the meat was tasteless. Fortunately, the sauce was tasteful, even it taste like a bunch of MSG. Anyway, the french fries was kinda a lot.

Chicken Cordon Blue. The chicken was juicy. Unfortunately, it was also tasteless. Oh, and it served with spaghetti which was also tasteless. ;(
I think they have to put some more flavor into their dishes.

Strawberry juice. I forgot how much it costed me, approximately 18-20K IDR. And again, I was disappointed. First it came, they even didn't strain it, so I asked the waitress to strain. Then, it tasted literally like strawberry and water. They didn't put any milk into it. Seriously, 20K for a juice with no milk? That's crazy. I mean, Ribenkoff wasn't a high end restaurant. Plus, they put a lot of ice cubes into the glass. I wonder how much their capital budget for a glass of strawberry juice was. So bad.

Another thing that turn me off was their menu book was like in food court. It's only a clear holder. It looked cheap.

Anyway, since they had change their name, I hope they also change their quality. Amen.

Pesto Autentico

The other Italian restaurant in Jakarta! Pesto Autentico located in the heart of big city, its name easily spread  and known among people. The next question is how good are they? Could they win from another Italian restaurant?

Complimentary bread welcoming me when I came in. :)
So bad it wasn't warm so even I was in hunger, I just ate 2 slices of them. The bread was a bit rough but after I bit, it became soften.

Spaghetti Firmati - To be honest, I thoughht this kind of restaurant would give such standard portion. But it came to my table, surprise surprise! The plate was huge. Oval shaped, about 30x15cm big. Not only the plate, the dish itself also came in huge portion. Enough for 2-3 persons I guess. Whoah! Lets try how it tasted like. Spaghetti Firmati was spaghetti with prawn, clams, squid, organic cherry tomatoes, and white wine sauce. The spaghetti was al dente, nice texture, and the sauce was very very nice. The prawn was crunchy which means it was fresh. Everything just fine, except the squid which was overcooked. Yeah, squid is one kind of meat that easily done. But overall, I guess this dish was over my expectation. :)

Going to Italian restaurant without ordering pizza is like walking without shoes. So I determined to order one; Rustica. The waiter said this was one of their recommendation. The pizza's diameter was about 30cm. Not too thick yet not too thin. Crunchy on the side, but bready in the middle. Me lovey. The toppings were tomato sauce, mozzarella, cooked ham and mushrooms. Well, I was hoping for more toppings, but no probs, this was okay.

Panna Cotta. Funny, they don't write dessert in the menu. So I asked, and there were only 3 kinds of desserts available, and I tried this. Apparently I have nothing to regret. I love this panna cotta!
The texture was thicker that pudding, but light enough to be called as dessert. Smell like lychee and milky. Actully I'm thinking to try to make this at home. :p

Hot chocolate. Came in a tall glass. Pretty thick chocolate and not sweet. Nice.

I heard they still have a lot of good pasta. I hope I could make another visit. Anybody? ;)

De Luca

Italian Restorante has been mushroomed in all over Jakarta lately. De Luca is one of them. As it has a lot of competitor, a bit hard for them to stand out from others. Sooner or later, the unqualified ones will be eliminated from the race area. Well, to be honest, I went to Plaza Senayan, planning to try Union. So bad there were a long long queue. I had to wait for 19 queues and I was in a huge hunger. Alright then, lets move on and try another one. I saw De Luca just right in front of Monolog, quiet crowded, but good for me as I didn't have to wait any longer and got a seat immediately, as I needed. Not bad, I thought.

Almost full-seated that time, the waiters looked busy serving customers. The furniture and dim light reminded us of Italian bistro. Nice. :3

This is their bread compliment. A basket of bread. Yeah, they were wheat bread, and yummy when it was warm, but getting dry when it was cold.

Spinach Canneloni (58K). 2 big rolled pasta with minced beef inside and melted cheese on the top plus tomato sauce. Once I ate this, reminded me of spaghetti bolognese. The difference is the pasta. Anyway, love the balance of thick cheese and sour tomato sauce. The pasta was al dente. But I thought I would much more in love if they put a bit sugar in the tomato sauce. :p

Linguine Minced Beef (68K). Whooooah, this was my fave. Well, as it was spinach, the color became green-ish. Minced beef and small cube of tomato, with grated cheese on the top. I was in love. I even drooling now while typing this. lol.
It tasted very balance for every taste it had. The dish wasn't too dry like aglio olio, but also had moist side. And all spices mix well.

FYI, just like another (most of) fancy restaurants, they took 10% service charge. :)

Pepenero Cucina Italiana

Italian restaurant is booming in Jakarta lately. Pepenero is one of them. First opened since 2004 in Bali, Pepenero already has 3 branches in Jakarta and 1 branch in Serpong. After heard all good things about Pepenero, I was surely wanted to try at least once. So here I was. As they had 3 branches in Jakarta, I thought I had no worry about no booking in advance. A little shock, I was almost got no seat.
Anyway, the later the time, the more crowded it was.

As I was waiting for my friends before I ordered, they gave me this complimentary bread. Consisted of 4 pieces, it was really good to kick your taste bud. The bread was a bit crunchy on the edge, and a bit chewy in the middle. The texture was nice. The tomato cube on the bread, gave fresh sensation when you eat the crunchy-chewy-savory bread. Anyway, I thought they didn't put any sugar to the tomato.

My friends had came. And Pepenero was very generous. They gave me a basket of complimentary bread AGAIN. Yeiy! Well, nothing much I could say about it, as I just eat a few of them because I couldn't wait for the main dishes. :p

Prosciutto e Zucchine Grigliate (45K). Thin Italian pizza, with tomato sauce, mozzarella  cheese, ham and green zucchini. Well, it turned out they weren't be generous this time. You may see from the pict, the surface of pizza wasn't full of topping. Fortunately it tasted nice though. A bit salty and savory.

Rigatoni Stracicati (49K). Rigatoni is a form of tube-shaped pasta of varying lengths and diameters. It is larger than penne and ziti and sometimes slightly curved. Rigatoni is usually ridged, and the tube's end is square-cut like ziti, not diagonal like penne (Wikipedia). Rigatoni Stracicati was  rigatoni with bolognese ragu sauce and mozzarella on top. The bolognese was good. A bit sour (tomato-ish). The pasta was al dente, not too hard yet not too soft. So loveable.

Spaghettini Nostromo (49K). Pasta with green paprika, fresh tomato, tuna and calamari. The pasta was al dente. The sauce was a bit thick and not too much, but enough to cover all the pasta. This dish really kicked my taste buds. Tasted a bit spicy, and so mouthwatering. I definitely wanted some more!!

Linguine Alla Marinara (49K). Linguine pasta with mixed seafood and tomato sauce. Linguine is a kind of pasta, which a bit bigger than spaghetti but smaller than fettucini. The pasta was al dente too. The sauce was good. They were generous of clams. hihi :)

Enough with the main dishes, I saw Soufflé Al Cioccolate (44K). Of course I ordered it without think twice. And I didn't regret it. It worth every cent I spent. It tasted great. As I watched Masterchef, once Gordon Ramsay said that soufflé was one of the hardest dessert to make. You could feel the sensation when you crack that surface on top then touch the creamy milky chocolate inside. Whoooaaaah. I am drooling now. After I ate this, I always been craving for this.

Gelatti Nacciola (29K). Well, it was gelato, which is Italian ice cream. The difference between gelato and ice cream is gelato is thicker. So when I heard gelato, first thing came up in my mind was it would make me queasy because I was too full and eat something thick. But the fact is, it wasn't. This was good. Well, it was creamy, but also light though. With tasted almond, and sweet.

Pinzimonio di Frutta (45K). It was a plate of mixed fruits (watermellon, banana, pineapple, strawberry, and orange) with chocolate dip. It was pretty good and (of course) healthy.

Overall, I was satisfies, and for sure would plan another visit. Yeiy!
